Over-the-Year Job Growth Continues during February in Local Areas across the State Springfield and Decatur Areas Add more than 2,300 New Jobs Over the Year CHICAGO – Over the year, total payroll jobs grew during February in all metro areas, with the exception of Danville which was essentially unchanged, according to data released by the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). The metro areas with the largest percentage increases in total jobs were Decatur (+2.6%, +1,400), the Illinois section of St. Louis (+1.6%, +3,800), and Kankakee-Bradley (+1.4%, +600). Total jobs in the Chicago-Naperville-Joliet Metropolitan Division rose +23,100, or +0.6%. Eleven metro areas reported job increases in Educational and Health Services, ten in Professional and Business Services, and nine in Wholesale Trade. Since January 2004, Illinois has added 198,100 jobs, which are more new jobs than any Midwest state. |

 DECATUR - A project to test carbon dioxide storage capacity deep below Archer Daniels Midland Co.'s campus in Decatur is scheduled to begin this spring. The company will announce today a partnership with the Midwest Geological Sequestration Consortium, which is led by the Champaign-based Illinois State Geological Survey, to work on the $84.3 million project. |
