Decatur, Illinois – Decatur, Illinois’ Commerce Park was recently ranked ninth in the nation in Business Facilities’ 18th Annual 2022 Metro Rankings Report for Top Industrial Parks.
Business Facilities magazine ranked the nation’s leading industrial parks. The magazine states that size, location to markets, growth potential, and recent expansions, as well as assets like water resources, on-site utilities, residential developments, and amenities were key factors in their Industrial Parks ranking.
“Decatur Commerce Park’s many connectivity attributes make it an ideal business location with domestic and international capabilities with close proximity to air, rail and five major highways,” commented property owner/manager Jaime Weiss of Moonachie, New Jersey based Weiss Realty Co, Inc.
Commerce Park, situated on 147 acres off US Route 51 and Interstate 72, is a strategically located industrial park in the Decatur-Macon County Enterprise Zone, adjacent to the ADM Intermodal Ramp which allows for the processing of third-party international shipping containers. Decatur, Illinois is home to the Midwest Inland Port, a multi-modal hub with connectivity to two Class I railroads and two short line railroads.
Weiss’s masterplan plans call for an additional proposed expansion of 488,000 to 1,300,000 SF of warehouse space to be available in two to three separate buildings within the next three years. “We have the capability to construct up to one-million square feet at our 147-acre industrial park,” said Weiss.
“As an industrial park of this size, Commerce Park services massive markets and is able to access more than 99 million people for same-day delivery,” said Nicole Bateman, president of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur-Macon County. “With rail on site, intermodal ramp across the street and a massive build-to-suit opportunity, it’s easy to see why Commerce Park was recognized as ninth in the nation. It provides rich economic development opportunities for Decatur.”
