During the month of October, the EDC joined around the country to celebrate Manufacturing Month. Our community’s legacy and success is due to the contributions made by manufacturers and their employees. For the sixth year in a row, the EDC worked with these local manufacturers to host “Manufacturing Week” in Decatur.
From October 18th through October 22nd, the EDC hosted Manufacturing Week in Macon County – a celebration of local manufacturers and their employees. The celebration helped show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors for folks to see the importance of manufacturing firsthand.
Decatur and Macon County did just this through social media campaigns with interviews and were able to reach nearly 25,000 people. We met staff members, learned about companies, and saw what it was like working day-to-day in a manufacturing job. If you missed last week, click here to catch up.
Thank you to all our local manufacturers who helped spread the news, provided us with marketing materials and collateral to share, invited us inside their company, and helped illustrate how vital manufacturing is to our local economy.
